Teranishi Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (寺西化学工業) was founded in 1916 in Osaka and is one of Japan's longest-established ink manufacturers. Their "Guitar" brand has been a household name in Japanese stationery for over a century, recognised for water-based inks formulated for fountain pens, calligraphy, and everyday writing.
Their fountain-pen ink lines lean on traditional Japanese colour culture. The "Taisho Roman Haikara" series takes its palette from the early-20th-century Taishō era (1912–1926), when modernity and Western influence reshaped Japanese aesthetics. "FUJIYAMA IRODORI" draws its colours from Mount Fuji and the changing seasons around it. Both ranges are dye-based, water-based inks made for everyday use — across fountain pens, cartridge systems, and Teranishi's distinctive gel pens.
